About the Project
Access to laboratory equipment and lab spaces is one of the biggest barriers for researchers, startups, and small companies conducting scientific work. Purchasing equipment outright is prohibitively expensive, and finding available lab space in the right location requires navigating a fragmented, opaque market. Equipments Anywhere was created to solve this problem by building an Airbnb-style marketplace specifically for lab equipment and lab spaces. DigiOxide developed this mobile application as a two-sided marketplace where lab owners can list their available equipment and spaces, and researchers can discover, compare, and rent what they need — all from their smartphone.
The Challenge
The scientific equipment rental market had no centralized discovery platform. Lab owners with underutilized equipment or vacant lab space had no efficient way to find renters. Researchers needing specialized equipment for short-term projects had to rely on word-of-mouth or expensive procurement processes. The market needed a frictionless, location-aware marketplace that made listing and discovering lab resources as easy as booking a vacation rental. The platform also needed to handle the unique complexities of scientific equipment: detailed specifications, availability calendars, pricing models, and location-based search.
Our Solution
DigiOxide built Equipments Anywhere as a location-aware mobile marketplace with two primary flows: listing and renting. Lab owners can photograph their equipment or space, enter detailed specifications, set pricing, and publish listings. Researchers can search by location, equipment type, or space requirements, compare options with photos and pricing, and contact owners directly to arrange rental terms. A map-based interface makes location-based discovery intuitive, showing available lab spaces and equipment near the user’s area.
