About the Project
Meeting rooms are the heartbeat of modern enterprises — yet they remain one of the most frustrating parts of the workday. Fumbling with remote controls, troubleshooting projector connections, and wasting the first ten minutes of every meeting on technical setup is a universal corporate pain point. DigiOxide was engaged to transform traditional conference rooms into SMART Conference Rooms by integrating Amazon Alexa with existing Crestron room control systems, enabling employees to manage their entire meeting environment using nothing but their voice.
The Challenge
The client’s conference rooms were equipped with Crestron control systems for managing displays, lighting, audio, and video conferencing. However, operating these systems required physical touchpanels and multiple button presses, creating friction that wasted time and disrupted meeting flow. Employees often struggled with the interface, leading to delayed meeting starts, IT support calls, and a generally poor meeting experience. The organization wanted a more natural, intuitive way to interact with their conference room technology — one that any employee could use without training.
Our Solution
DigiOxide developed a custom integration layer between Amazon Alexa and the existing Crestron room control infrastructure. We built custom Alexa Skills that allow employees to control every aspect of the conference room using natural voice commands: starting presentations, adjusting lighting, controlling audio volume, launching video calls, and switching display sources — all hands-free. The integration preserved the client’s existing hardware investment while adding an entirely new, intuitive control layer on top.
